We know that a great body of children's literature is a key ingredient to literacy. However, in many of the countries where Room to Read works, this essential component simply did not exist. So in 2003, Room to Read decided to meet that need by starting to publish children's books in local languages. Eleven years later, Room to Read has published more than 1000 original book titles and helped create an entire infrastructure of children's literature. While every single book title represents countless hours of care and dedication, here are a few things we could count that will help paint a picture of what this accomplishment really means.
