The fifth edition of the #HarKadamBetiKeSang campaign focuses on “Adolescents as Changemakers,” emphasizing life skills to promote gender equality. This initiative aims to empower adolescents to influence their communities positively, fostering a culture of advocacy for girls’ education. It highlights that girls’ education encompasses not only enrollment but also safety, skill acquisition, and socio-emotional development. By enhancing community engagement, the campaign seeks to cultivate a gender-equal society where adolescent girls are equipped to navigate challenges and make informed decisions about their lives.

1. Life Skills as Catalyst of Change: Encouraging life skills education is not just about individual growth; it’s about transforming societies and creating lasting change.
2. Adolescent Voices, Adolescent Choices: An adolescent is an active individual with a strong sense of self and agency, developed through life skills education.
3. Breaking the Stereotypes: Together, we can redefine what’s possible for girls in our society. By challenging traditional gender roles and stereotypes, we empower girls to pursue their passions and ambitions without limitations.

Kishori Mela

Kishori Mela is an empowering, youth-led celebration that champions adolescents as changemakers, organized by and for adolescents within their schools. Scheduled for November 14, the event will span nine states across India under the National Girls' Education Program Campaign, Har Kadam Beti Ke Sang (HKBTS). Now in its fifth edition, HKBTS amplifies the role of life skills as a transformative tool in the lives of adolescent girls, furthering the mission of gender equality.
This year's Kishori Mela theme, #My Voice My Choice, emphasizes adolescents’ ability to voice their ideas and shape community change. This platform encourages participants to express their agency through diverse activities. Kishori Mela will create a space to also talk about importance of girls’ education through gamification package- School Chale Hum.
