Organizational funders are critical to our success in improving the lives of children across historically low-income communities around the world. Whether through grants, employee engagement, cause marketing partnerships or in-kind donations, these partners help us scale our impact while meeting our shared goals.

The Atlassian Foundation International

Atlassian Foundation International has partnered with Room to Read since 2009 and has donated more than US$15 million toward Room to Read’s programs since then, making them our largest corporate investor from Australia. Atlassian staff also provide significant personal support to Room to Read through their “Dollars a Day” workplace giving program.

Cartier Philanthropy

Having supported Room to Read Girls’ Education Program in Bangladesh and Cambodia from 2019 to 2022, enabling the transition of over 4,300 girls to secondary school, Cartier Philanthropy is now funding our global efforts to empower 40 million children worldwide through quality education.

Citi

Through its e for Education initiative, Citi donates a percentage of the business proceeds traded electronically across its Markets franchise to education-focused non-profits and has raised over US$73 million since the inception. Since 2013, Citi has generously contributed $8.9 million to Room to Read, the equivalent of teaching more than 178,000 children to read and write for a year.

Dutch Post Code Lottery

Through a three-year grant, the Nationale Postcode Loterij in the Netherlands is supporting Room to Read in Indonesia to help young learners develop a habit and love of reading. This partnership is central to Room to Read’s goal of benefiting 1 million children across Indonesia by 2025.

Echidna Giving

In 2021, Echidna Giving made a four-year grant investment in our Girls’ Education Program. Echidna Giving is a leading thought partner for Room to Read in the areas of innovation, analysis, learning and systemic change.

Humanitix

Driven by a belief in hassle-free ticketing that puts humanity first, ground-breaking nonprofit ticketing platform Humanitix gives 100% of their profits to charity. As a Room to Read partner since 2018, Humanitix has benefited more than 30,000 children around the world over the past five years, with their impact growing significantly as their business scales. Humanitix is changing the ticketing industry for the better, and in doing so, making it possible for thousands more young learners around the world to exercise their right to a quality education.

Goldman Sachs Gives

Through Goldman Sachs and Goldman Sachs Gives, the company and its senior executives have contributed more than US$26.4 million to Room to Read. In 2023, Goldman Sachs supported our literacy and girls’ education programs, benefiting more than 10,262 children.

IMC

Since 2016, IMC has invested generously in Room to Read’s Literacy Program in Africa. Throughout our partnership, IMC has contributed more than US$27 million to Room to Read, helping to equip young learners across Africa, and now also India, with the powerful tool of literacy that will transform their own lives, as well as their communities and future generations.

Save the Children

With funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Room to Read partners with Save the Children and Humanity and Inclusion to implement the five-year Learn to Read project in Laos. This initiative complements government efforts to improve reading skills for children from the pre-primary level to Grade 2, with a special focus on children who do not speak Lao and children with disabilities. To date, the project has developed and distributed nearly 1.2 million inclusive and age-appropriate teaching and learning materials to over 61,000 students in 921 schools. Many of these books have been made available in a video format with sign language interpretation to expand these resources to children with hearing and seeing impairments.

Tatcha

Luxury skincare brand Tatcha has been a corporate partner to Room to Read since 2014, with a percentage of every purchase supporting Room to Read's girls' education work across Asia and Africa. Tatcha is also a founding partner of our U.S. Literacy Initiative, which began in 2020. To date, the partnership has funded over 10 million days of school for girls in Africa and Southeast Asia and provided more than 633,207 books to children living in book deserts within the United States. Tatcha’s support has enabled us to provide in-school and after-school programs, family and community support, and access to diverse children’s storybooks for children living in communities experiencing deep educational and economic inequities. Among the various collections funded by Tatcha, we have created STEAM books and titles focused on peace and equality with plans to create more diverse books for Black, Latinx, and Native and white American communities where high levels of poverty and rural environments create extreme barriers to learning.

The Patrick J. McGovern Foundation

The Patrick J. McGovern Foundation is committed to providing resources at critical points along the education and tech workforce learning journey, while supporting historically resilient communities in forging a better future through the pandemic and beyond. They have generously partnered with Room to Read since 2021 to support literacy and gender equality in education for children in low-income communities, and to help students overcome learning challenges through digital tools and human connectivity.

United States Agency for International Development (USAID)

Room to Read partners with USAID directly in India through a prime cooperative agreement (the USAID Scaling up Early Reading Intervention or SERI) and with USAID consortiums as a subcontractor in Cambodia, Laos, Rwanda and Nepal (with RTI, Save the Children, Education Development Center and Chemonics respectively). Through these partnerships, we support strengthening education systems to provide access to quality early grade reading education at scale. Through technical and implementation assistance, we are able to benefit millions of children, teachers, coaches, parents, government officials and communities with best practice training as well as teaching and learning materials in mother tongue languages.

World Food Programme

With funding from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Room to Read partners with World Food Programme to implement the six-year McGovern-Dole Food for Education and Child Nutrition Program in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. For the first two years of the initiative, Room to Read extended technical support to implementing partners and began implementing directly in two upazilas starting in the third year. The 2023 project endline evaluation revealed that as a result of the project, students' reading skills had dramatically improved. Since baseline, the percentage of Grade 2 students who can correctly answer 80 percent of reading comprehension questions rose from 15% to 61%, with similar gains in letter identification in both Grades 1 and 2.
