Laurie McMahon is the Chief Development and Communications Officer at Room to Read, a global organization committed to the belief that World Change Starts with Educated Children(r). In her role, Laurie leads Room to Read's global resource development, communications, and marketing efforts, playing a key role in advancing the organization's strategic growth, fundraising goals, and brand visibility. Her leadership ensures Room to Read has the resources and global recognition needed to deepen its impact worldwide.
Previously, Laurie served as Development Director for both North America and the Asia Pacific region, where her strategic leadership strengthened Room to Read's philanthropic base and drove consistent revenue growth across diverse markets. Before joining Room to Read, she led fundraising for the British Asian Trust-one of King Charles' flagship charities-and advanced development initiatives at University College London, her alma mater.
Laurie holds a B.A. in Geography from University College London, an M.Sc. in Development Studies from Birkbeck College, and a certification in Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management from Harvard's Graduate School of Education. She brings a global lens and an unwavering belief in the power of education to drive lasting change.
